{"id":2096,"date":"2012-09-05T20:36:39","date_gmt":"2012-09-05T20:36:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mixermuse.com\/blog\/2012\/09\/05\/regarding-cnns-story-cnn-reality-check-4-5-million-jobs-created\/"},"modified":"2014-11-15T10:11:55","modified_gmt":"2014-11-15T17:11:55","slug":"regarding-cnns-story-cnn-reality-check-4-5-million-jobs-created","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mixermuse.com\/blog\/politics\/regarding-cnns-story-cnn-reality-check-4-5-million-jobs-created\/","title":{"rendered":"Regarding CNN&#8217;s story: &#8220;CNN Reality Check: 4.5 million jobs created?&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The link to the story is <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2012\/09\/05\/politics\/fact-check-obama-jobs\/index.html?hpt=hp_t2\">here<\/a>.\n<\/p>\n<p>According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (I would put the links but CNN will not let me)&#8230;\n<\/p>\n<p>Unemployment peaked Oct. 2009 at 10%.\n<\/p>\n<p>The current unemployment rate is 8.3%.\n<\/p>\n<p>President Obama took office Jan 2009.\n<\/p>\n<p>When Bush took office Jan 2001 the unemployment rate was 4.2%.\n<\/p>\n<p>When Bush left office in Jan 2009 the unemployment rate was 7.8%.\n<\/p>\n<p>From the time Bush took office to the day he left, the unemployment rate increased 86%.\n<\/p>\n<p>From the time Obama took office to the present unemployment increased 6%.\n<\/p>\n<p>If you take the height of the recession started during the Bush administration to be 10 months after Obama took office, Oct 2009, the numbers are this:\n<\/p>\n<p>From the time Bush took office to Oct 2009, the unemployment rate increased 138%.\n<\/p>\n<p>From Oct 2009 to the present unemployment DECREASED 6%.\n<\/p>\n<p>If you take 4 months, May 2009, into the Obama administration, the unemployment rate was 9.4%\n<\/p>\n<p>From the time Bush took office to May 2009, the unemployment rate increased 124%.\n<\/p>\n<p>From May 2009 to the present unemployment DECREASED 12%.\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/data.bls.gov\/pdq\/SurveyOutputServlet\">Link<\/a>\n\t<\/p>\n<p>Jan 2009 non-farm job losses were 818,000\n<\/p>\n<p>Jul 2012 non-farm job GAINS were 163,000\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/data.bls.gov\/timeseries\/CES0000000001?output_view=net_1mth\">Link<\/a>\n\t<\/p>\n<p>Jan 1993, when Clinton took office, private sector jobs were 91 million.\n<\/p>\n<p>Jan 2001, when Clinton left office, private sector jobs were 112 million.\n<\/p>\n<p>Jan 2009, When Bush left office, private sector jobs were 111 million.\n<\/p>\n<p>Clinton increased private sector jobs 21 million.\n<\/p>\n<p>Bush decreased jobs by 1 million.\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/data.bls.gov\/timeseries\/CES0500000001\">Link<\/a>\n\t<\/p>\n<p>If you take these numbers 4 months, 10 months or 1 year after Obama took office the numbers look dramatically better for Obama.  To think Obama could turn the recession around the day he took office is absurd.\n<\/p>\n<p>No matter how you slice it Obama comes out WAY ahead by these numbers for anyone that cares about FACTS.
