Swirling, whirling, worlding snow<\/p>\n
Shimmering, soft white into half lit fog<\/p>\n
Walking up my mountain<\/p>\n
From home to peak<\/p>\n
How many lives have I made this journey?<\/p>\n
Now, frosted Aspen branches<\/p>\n
Delicate, curling intricately<\/p>\n
Telling their gnarly story silently<\/p>\n
Thriving, striving, intertwining<\/p>\n
Barely visible in blazing sun<\/p>\n
But now, icy frost gives them voice<\/p>\n
Burgeoning, budding a snowy history<\/p>\n
Thinking, reflecting, working up this hill<\/p>\n
Active, passive<\/p>\n
Relationships, meaning, beauty, grammar, structure, analysis<\/p>\n
Intertwined in different temporalities<\/p>\n
With these branches, this snow, my mountain<\/p>\n
We kiss each other as our distances<\/p>\n
We silently mingle in ways not present<\/p>\n
Undercurrents never seen<\/p>\n
But shown up from time to time as history, as frost<\/p>\n
Soon to melt and return us to our anonymity<\/p>\n
This road, I labor to the top<\/p>\n
Winding as the Aspen branches<\/p>\n
Now, viewing brilliant white fields<\/p>\n
Made by ravaging, relentless fires<\/p>\n
Another history shown by the dark, burnt tree trunks<\/p>\n
Set against the white snow and half lit fog<\/p>\n
I reach my peak<\/p>\n
This place where the earth ends and the sky begins<\/p>\n
I kiss eternity with my frosted beard<\/p>\n
I stand erect towards my end, my mortality, my horizon<\/p>\n
I stare into an abyss of half lit fog blowing snow<\/p>\n
Not seeing past this eerie gray curtain<\/p>\n
But knowing the expansive precipice,<\/p>\n
the mountainous splendor that awaits another day<\/p>\n
I marvel at my swirling, whirling, worlding, shimmering, glimmering<\/p>\n
Presence<\/p>\n
And what remains below, underneath, silent<\/p>\n
But giving birth to the stars and the earth<\/p>\n
This my place under the sky, over the earth and intertwined with all<\/p>\n
